Associate, Interconnection

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Develop a scalable communication process for regular updates with utility partners and internal teams regarding timelines and status reporting.

• Recommend enhancements to processes, including improved software usage.

• Submit interconnection applications and monitor routine milestones under supervision.

• Input and manage data in Excel and Smartsheet, gaining independence over time.

• Adhere to auditing protocols and engage in quality control assessments.

• Oversee application records and milestone statuses across various projects or markets.

• Ensure portfolio dashboards and tracking sheets are up-to-date and accurate.

• Confirm payment transactions and milestone statuses with finance and project teams.

• Raise alerts for timeline risks, discrepancies, and missing information.

• Update Smartsheet, Excel, and Salesforce trackers with milestone and payment statuses.

• Collaborate effectively with development, engineering, and finance teams.

• Communicate with internal stakeholders and utility contacts regarding project timelines and procedural updates.

• Prepare draft summaries or entries for internal documentation.

• Provide regular updates on portfolio status, risks, and decisions.

• Maintain a comprehensive database of utility tariffs, interconnection manuals, net metering requirements, service manuals, filing resources, capacity/line resources, contacts, approval timelines, and fees.

• Apply utility and incentive requirements relevant to specific utilities and programs.

• Stay updated on professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, and professional societies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, including proficiency in document control.

• Experience working effectively in teams and independently.

• Eagerness to learn through both self-directed study and structured educational settings.

• Ability to coordinate efforts across both internal and external teams.

• At least 2 years of experience in electrical infrastructure engineering, particularly focusing on utility coordination and load interconnection (preferred).

• Strong grasp of electrical investor-owned utilities and grid interconnection processes (preferred).

• Demonstrated experience in navigating utility procedures to secure interconnection points (preferred).

• Familiarity with interconnection applications, net metering, and incentive processes; experience interacting with various utilities nationwide (preferred).

• Proficient understanding of data privacy and security practices.

• Competency in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or entry-level data visualization tools.

• Ability to deconstruct complex problems, identify relationships, and recognize patterns or trends.

• Resourceful in finding information, tools, or support to overcome challenges.
