This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist in field deployment and commissioning tasks for PLC-based control systems under the supervision of senior engineers.
• Support point-to-point verification efforts, which includes verifying I/O signals, control sequences, and device connectivity.
• Engage in onsite testing and validation of PLC programs, HVAC control systems, and mechanical equipment integrations.
• Observe seasoned engineers during commissioning activities to develop foundational knowledge of PLC systems.
• Aid in the configuration of programming laptops, Studio 5000 connections, and controller setups.
• Conduct basic assessments of control panel wiring, I/O status, and communication network connectivity.
• Assist during go-live activities by monitoring system performance, documenting observations, and providing support to senior engineers.
• Contribute to the documentation of commissioning activities, including I/O verification logs and test results.
• Collect and arrange project materials such as photos, redlines, wiring diagrams, and as-built records.
• Keep accurate punch lists and monitor outstanding items identified during commissioning.
• Aid in the preparation of turnover packages and project closeout documentation.
• Document field observations and relay findings clearly to senior engineers.
• Uphold professional conduct and represent the company positively at all client locations.
• Support senior engineers during client demonstrations and system walkthroughs.
• Adhere to all site safety regulations, electrical safety protocols, and facility access guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with team members and escalate issues promptly and appropriately.
• Facilitate interactions with contractors, vendors, and facility personnel under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Actively seek to expand knowledge of PLC systems, Rockwell Automation platforms, and building automation fundamentals.
• Complete training courses provided by Rockwell Automation and work towards obtaining Studio 5000 certification.
• Pursue mentorship opportunities with senior and lead engineers to enhance technical development.
• Gain familiarity with control system principles including HVAC controls, electrical systems, and mechanical equipment integration.
• Develop an understanding of industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, and DeviceNet.
• 0-2 years of experience in PLC programming, industrial automation, electrical systems, or a related technical field.
• Fundamental understanding of electrical concepts, control panels, and wiring diagrams.
• Enthusiasm for learning and growing within a dynamic, field-based environment.
• Strong work ethic, dependability, and capability to follow instructions.
• Willingness and ability to travel 50-60%, including extended site assignments.
• Valid driver's license and capability to travel domestically as required.
• Excellent attention to detail and a systematic approach to tasks.
• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related technical field.
• Experience with PLC programming, Rockwell Automation, or industrial control systems is a plus.
• Basic understanding of electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and I/O wiring.
• Coursework in controls, automation, or instrumentation is preferred.
