Associate Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of delivery results for 1-2 teams (6-15 engineers), ensuring dependable delivery while monitoring progress and identifying risks proactively.

• Oversee personnel and career growth through regular 1-on-1 meetings, performance evaluations, and daily team leadership with support from senior management.

• Uphold high engineering standards across backend, frontend, mobile, and QA teams while guaranteeing quality and architectural consistency.

• Remain technically engaged (~30%), contributing to coding, reviewing pull requests, and preserving technical credibility within your teams.

• Facilitate seamless team execution by collaborating closely with Team Leads and Product Managers to establish clear tasks and eliminate obstacles.

• Enhance system reliability by assisting teams in investigating incidents, identifying root causes, and continually improving platform stability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong background in software development with solid expertise in backend (preferably within the Java ecosystem) and knowledge of distributed systems.

• Emerging leadership experience as a Tech Lead, Team Lead, or in a similar capacity, with a proven track record of aiding others in their delivery and growth.

• Interest in people management, with either initial experience or clear readiness to take on these responsibilities.

• Strong instincts for delivery, capable of tracking work progress, identifying risks early, and keeping teams moving forward without micromanagement.

• Sound understanding of product implications to pinpoint gaps, risks, and engineering considerations in requirements.

• Excellent English communication skills for both technical and cross-functional discussions.
