This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Reviewing submissions for potential publication on the Lawfare website
• Requesting contributions from writers based on current events and identified gaps in Lawfare's coverage
• Processing accepted submissions to ready them for publication
• Collaborating with our podcast team to create new audio content and daily podcasts
• Contributing to both long-term and short-term research initiatives under the guidance of senior editorial staff
• Ensuring final copyediting and publication posting to the website
• Assisting the managing editor in establishing and maintaining the Lawfare publication schedule
• Contributing to Lawfare podcasts and articles on subjects of specific expertise or necessity as required
• Overseeing the website, which includes rotating featured pieces, posting relevant documents and livestreams, and ensuring quality, in collaboration with the web hosting team
• Handling scheduling and other administrative tasks
• Assisting with fundraising and donor-required documentation as necessary
• Managing and recruiting Lawfare interns
• Performing additional tasks as assigned by Lawfare management.
• Bachelor's degree, ideally in a field related to political science, government, journalism, or history
• Exceptional writing, analytical, and research abilities
• Interest in issues concerning national security
• Capability to work efficiently with minimal oversight
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and organizational skills
• Initiative and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Prior experience in editing, journalism, the legal sector, or digital media is advantageous
