Associate Editor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Manage the schedule for 10–15 titles each year, monitoring milestones from the initial concept to the final file submission.

• Investigate and commission new introductions, afterwords, or essays from distinguished authors and critics.

• Conduct light copyediting and thorough proofreading of supplementary materials and marketing content.

• Aid in securing rights for texts, images, and archival resources.

• Collaborate closely with the Art Director to research, scout, and commission illustrators.

• Partner with Production to monitor edition-specific special features.

• Evaluate manuscript passes, color proofs, and physical prototypes.

• Craft engaging product descriptions for the website.

• Support the marketing team with newsletter content and behind-the-scenes blog entries.

• Assist the customer support team with specific questions regarding edition details.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of editorial or production editorial experience in trade publishing.

• Experience with illustrated books, art books, or special editions is highly preferred.

• Strong organizational abilities to manage intricate schedules and multiple vendors simultaneously.

• Exceptional written communication skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.

• Familiarity with InDesign and project management software is an asset.
