Associate Distinguished Engineer – Enterprise Architect, Azure AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Design the AI Landing Zone, encompassing Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Power Platform, Microsoft Fabric, and Microsoft Copilot services.

• Ensure the platform is secure, compliant, and architected for scalability across academic, administrative, research, and healthcare sectors.

• Establish and uphold governance, identity/SSO integration, and infrastructure requirements.

• Implement architectural controls to adhere to FERPA, accessibility (WCAG/508), privacy, and institutional policy standards.

• Guarantee that solutions include responsible AI assessments, fairness validation, and observability features.

• Develop integration patterns with core client systems (SIS, LMS, SSO, APIs, data sources).

• Work in collaboration with the Data/Technology Lead to delineate secure data pipelines, connectors, and access methodologies.

• Assess technology alternatives (Azure OpenAI, Copilot, Power Platform, Fabric) for each specific use case.

• Specify technical requirements, constraints, and architectural elements for low, medium, and high-complexity scenarios.

• Set up CI/CD pipelines, monitoring dashboards, cost transparency tools, and lifecycle management processes.

• Evaluate prototypes, solution designs, integrations, and deployments for technical accuracy and architectural consistency.

• Offer coaching and support to development and engineering teams.

• Proven expertise in cloud/enterprise architecture, ideally with a focus on Azure AI services.

• Comprehensive understanding of identity, security, compliance frameworks, and data governance practices.

• Demonstrated experience in designing scalable AI or cloud platforms and integrating enterprise systems.

• Capable of assessing technical feasibility, enhancing performance, and applying MLOps/CI-CD methodologies.

• Excellent communication skills for conveying complex technical ideas to non-technical audiences.
