Associate Director/Director, Alliance Management – AI Discovery

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the main alliance manager for collaborations in AI-driven drug discovery and strategic external partnerships.

• Establish and nurture trusted relationships with partners in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and technology at scientific, operational, and executive levels.

• Oversee collaboration governance, which includes Joint Steering Committees (JSCs), scientific working groups, executive reviews, agendas, action tracking, and documentation of decisions.

• Collaborate with teams in Discovery Machine Learning, Computational Chemistry, Biology, Medicinal Chemistry, Software Engineering, Legal, Business Development, and other cross-functional groups to ensure alignment on collaboration goals, milestones, and deliverables.

• Create and maintain comprehensive collaboration plans, detailing timelines, governance milestones, partner commitments, contractual obligations, budgets, and partnership metrics.

• Coordinate cross-functional execution across numerous partnered programs by proactively identifying risks, tracking dependencies, resolving issues, and ensuring operational excellence.

• Simplify complex AI, machine learning, computational chemistry, and scientific concepts into clear, actionable updates for external collaborators, ensuring alignment between technical teams and partner goals.

• Acquire sufficient technical knowledge of Iambic's AI discovery platform and computational workflows to effectively represent collaborative programs, anticipate partner inquiries, and facilitate productive scientific discussions.

• Collaborate with Legal and Business Development to support collaboration agreements, governance frameworks, data sharing, publications, and strategic partnership initiatives.

• Prepare executive updates, partnership reports, and presentations, while also contributing to the evaluation and launch of new strategic collaborations.

• Assist in establishing and continuously enhancing alliance management processes, governance standards, and best practices as Iambic's collaboration portfolio expands.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline, engineering, business, or a related field; an advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) is preferred.

• 12+ years of experience for Associate Director or 15+ years for Director in alliance management, scientific program management, project management, or scientific operations within biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or AI-driven life sciences.

• Proven experience in managing complex scientific collaborations and strategic partnerships.

• An understanding of drug discovery, machine learning, or computational research environments.

• Exceptional organizational, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.

• Demonstrated capacity to influence multidisciplinary teams without direct authority.

• Experience in supporting AI, machine learning, computational biology, computational chemistry, or organizations involved in AI-enabled drug discovery (preferred).

• Background in working with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academic, or technology collaborations (preferred).

• Familiarity with collaboration agreements, governance structures, and cross-company research programs (preferred).

• Alliance Management (ASAP), PMP, or similar certification (preferred).
