This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.
• Assess the accounting ramifications of potential transactions and offer insights and recommendations for planned and proposed agreements or transaction frameworks.
• Address, resolve, and make determinations on standard and/or routine requests for business and accounting policy interpretation.
• Examine contracts and agreements, investigate pertinent US GAAP and SEC regulation accounting guidelines, and suggest accounting requirements for complex and/or non-standard transactions.
• Develop technical accounting memoranda and other presentation materials for significant transactions, while aiding in the review process with management and external auditors.
• Support the implementation of new accounting standards and updates.
• Generate key accounting deliverables for acquisitions, divestitures, and other strategic transactions.
• Create specific financial reporting deliverables for RTX reporting purposes.
• Integrate, sustain, and communicate the accounting policies of both Pratt & Whitney and RTX Corporation (RTX). Assist in drafting new and revised accounting policies.
• Collaborate with and present to internal and external auditors, cross-functional departments, and business units throughout Pratt & Whitney and RTX.
• Provide support to the Assistant Controller and/or Controller in various ad hoc projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related area with a minimum of 12+ years of relevant work experience; or an advanced degree with 10+ years of relevant work experience.
• CPA is highly preferred.
• Robust technical accounting background with comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP and SEC regulations, along with extensive practical experience in applying accounting concepts, such as revenue recognition, collaborations, leasing, goodwill, intangible assets, internal use software, and business combinations.
• Big 4 audit or advisory experience is highly preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, both quantitative and qualitative, including technical research.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to clearly and succinctly document and convey complex accounting matters to both finance and non-finance personnel.
• Capability to effectively manage multiple projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, both domestically and internationally.
• Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently.
• Broad knowledge in management and leadership to guide project teams.
