Associate Director, Portfolio Strategy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver the requirements and take ownership of the quantitative and analytical foundation for R&D portfolio prioritization, valuation, and analytical interpretation.

• Assist in the portfolio strategy by maintaining and refining portfolio information through collaboration with project teams, R&D and commercial leadership, governance committees, Finance, Forecasting, and Competitive Intelligence.

• Incorporate probability of success, timelines, scenarios, sensitivity analyses, platform strategies, asset and disease strategies, and franchise perspectives into portfolio reporting.

• Contextualize internal R&D portfolio data with industry benchmarks and competitive intelligence.

• Collaborate with GPPM Systems and Reporting, Finance, and Pipeline Strategy and Valuation to deliver insights for dashboards, predictive models, scenario simulators, and automated competitive landscape signal feeds.

• Manage the analytics component of the portfolio governance process and ensure that committee materials utilize a consistent, reusable model.

• Support innovative AI-enabled strategies, including predictive analytics, automated assumption-flagging, and natural-language synthesis of competitive intelligence.

• Convert quantitative model outputs into committee-ready narratives and visual representations for senior R&D and Commercial leadership.

• Facilitate structured portfolio prioritization review sessions and incorporate analytics into discussions.

• Act as a methodological resource in preparing valuation and risk inputs for governance review.

• Work in collaboration with Program Management, Systems and Reporting, R&D Finance, and Global Commercial Strategy & Operations.

• Connect technical/data science capabilities with strategic and governance-oriented portfolio requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Prior experience in portfolio strategy and management, ideally within a biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences consulting environment.

• Proven proficiency in eNPV modeling, PoS-weighted valuation, scenario and sensitivity analysis, and portfolio-level resource optimization.

• Demonstrated ability to translate complex quantitative analyses into clear recommendations for senior executives or governance audiences.

• Strong skills in cross-functional collaboration, maintaining credibility with both technical/analytical and clinical/commercial stakeholders.

• Familiarity with decision-support methodologies in a pharmaceutical R&D or commercial setting.

• Experience with stage-gate or investment governance processes within a large biotech or pharmaceutical organization.

• Working knowledge of oncology-specific value drivers, including companion diagnostics, accelerated regulatory pathways, HTA frameworks, and combination/platform strategies.

• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of applications.

• Ability to work remotely within the United States.
