This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Spearhead the enterprise Data Governance, FAIR, and data product strategy and roadmap.
• Create a value-realization framework to assess business outcomes, adoption, and return on investment.
• Implement the Enterprise Data Strategy, which encompasses data ownership, reusable data products, lifecycle management, data contracts, and measures of adoption.
• Develop a federated governance operating model that includes decision rights, ownership, stewardship, councils, standards, and escalation pathways.
• Enhance FAIR maturity through lifecycle practices, metadata standards, persistent identifiers, controlled vocabularies, and access patterns.
• Improve capabilities in active metadata, data cataloging, lineage, business glossaries, semantics, and knowledge graphs.
• Establish governance policies and controls for quality, observability, privacy, security, retention, and responsible usage.
• Collaborate with architecture, engineering, digital, security, privacy, legal, and business teams to operationalize governed data products.
• Define and uphold data readiness criteria that support responsible AI initiatives.
• Act as the data engagement lead for a designated business function and promote the adoption of data management practices.
• Oversee large-scale data programs, cross-functional projects, and external partnerships.
• Communicate results, risks, dependencies, and value realization to senior leadership.
• An associate degree with 10 years of experience in Data Management, Information Systems, or a related field, or a higher degree with fewer years of experience.
• Experience within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical sector.
• Knowledge of regulated data, business processes, and compliance standards.
• Proven leadership in enterprise data governance, data management, active metadata, data quality, or data product initiatives.
• Practical understanding of FAIR data principles and their application via metadata, standards, semantics, interoperability, and access controls.
• Experience in establishing data governance operating models that include ownership, stewardship, policy, standards, controls, and issue management.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing abilities.
• Preferred experience in implementing enterprise data strategy, scaling FAIR, data products operating models, and data contracts.
• Familiarity with active metadata, data observability, lineage, ontologies, knowledge graphs, and policy-as-code is preferred.
• Preferred experience with Collibra, Databricks Unity Catalog, Reltio, SciBite, or TopQuadrant.
• Experience enabling responsible AI and ensuring data readiness for machine learning, generative AI, RAG, and AI agent use cases is preferred.
• Capability to define measurable outcomes for data investments is preferred.
• Preferred experience managing external partners and geographically distributed delivery teams.
