This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Perform editorial assessments of AP Exam items, exam formats, and related materials
• Act as the primary STEM-centered editor and copyeditor for AP assessment production
• Function as the global editor and copyeditor across all AP disciplines
• Ensure that content is clear, concise, consistent, grammatically accurate, and adheres to course style conventions
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure assessment materials are free of errors
• Apply AP assessment style standards and make independent editorial decisions
• Verify facts and validate citations and source information
• Utilize authoring and content management systems
• Ensure AP Exams conform to layout and presentation standards
• Conduct iterative reviews and meticulous copy-to-copy analyses
• Maintain course-specific style guides, digital formatting standards, and the internal assessment style manual
• Facilitate educational initiatives and assist generalist editors with STEM editorial responsibilities
• Oversee workflow, prioritize tasks, and adhere to deadlines
• Uphold editorial quality and accuracy across AP courses, particularly in STEM subjects
• Research exemplars and create refined editorial resources
• Make independent decisions on content and style, escalating issues when necessary
• Identify inefficiencies and suggest enhancements for editorial practices and technologies
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in copyediting, proofreading, and editing
• Experience in a STEM-related field and familiarity with secondary or postsecondary content is preferred
• Bachelor’s degree, ideally in a STEM-related discipline
• Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style and other professional style manuals
• Extensive experience implementing professional style guidelines
• Proficiency with various content management systems and technical platforms
• Strong skills in organization, time management, and task prioritization
• Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines both independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Growth-oriented mindset and adaptability in uncertain and changing circumstances
• Willingness to travel 3–5 times per year or less than 15% to College Board offices or for business purposes
