This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct editorial evaluations of AP Exam items, exam forms, and related materials.
• Act as the primary global editor and copyeditor for AP assessment items, forms, and associated materials.
• Ensure that content is clear, concise, consistent, grammatically accurate, and adheres to course-specific style guidelines.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to guarantee that assessment items are free of errors.
• Apply AP assessment style guidelines and exercise editorial judgment across various resource sets.
• Fact-check and validate citations and source information.
• Utilize authoring and content management platforms.
• Ensure that AP Exams comply with layout and presentation specifications.
• Complete iterative reviews as AP Exams undergo revisions.
• Proofread AP Exams and related publications or systems.
• Conduct thorough copy-to-copy comparisons.
• Develop and enhance editorial resources for assigned courses.
• Lead strategic editorial initiatives such as exemplar items, style sheets, and task models.
• Review exemplars created by other editors.
• Maintain an internal assessment style guide.
• Oversee workflow, prioritize projects, and meet deadlines.
• Lead and engage in educational opportunities, training, and professional development.
• Make independent decisions regarding content and style issues and escalate matters when necessary.
• Participate in coaching and feedback sessions.
• Identify inefficiencies and suggest improved editorial practices, including the use of innovative technologies.
• 4+ years of experience in copyediting, proofreading, and editing.
• Preferred experience in editing assessments and other educational materials.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style and other professional style guides.
• Extensive experience applying professional style guides.
• Experience in editing and working with content management systems and technical platforms.
• Strong organizational, time, and task management abilities.
• Capacity to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines both independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Growth-oriented mindset and adaptability in a dynamic, changing environment.
• Willingness to travel 3–5 times a year or less than 15% for College Board offices or related business.
