Associate Director, Accounting Policy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Conduct research on pertinent accounting guidelines (U.S. GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles) to assess intricate accounting matters.

• Create, maintain, and revise the Company's accounting policy manual and technical memos to ensure compliance with current accounting standards across the organization.

• Stay informed about current and emerging accounting standards, evaluate their implications, and work with management to guarantee the correct and timely application of these standards.

• Act as a resource for team members and relevant internal/external stakeholders regarding complex technical accounting policy and compliance issues within assigned areas of responsibility.

• Offer technical accounting assistance on transactions and strategic initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5-7+ years of accounting experience that directly correlates with the specific duties of this role.

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting is required.

• CPA designation with prior public accounting experience is highly preferred.

• Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles, ideally within the life, health, or P&C insurance sectors.

• Proficiency with accounting research tools (e.g., PwC Checkpoint, DART, CCH).

• Ability to exercise sound judgment and perform effectively under competing priorities and deadlines.

• Proven capability to establish strong working relationships with both internal and external parties.

• An inquisitive nature with a readiness to independently pursue knowledge, ask pertinent questions, and clearly express and articulate opinions.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the flexibility to work varied hours as needed.
