Associate Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.

📋 Description

• Extract, transform, aggregate, and analyze extensive and intricate datasets utilizing SQL, Python, R, Spark, and associated technologies.

• Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA), feature engineering, and data validation to bolster analytics and modeling projects.

• Create, assess, and sustain descriptive and predictive machine learning models using tools like scikit-learn, Jupyter Notebooks, Python, R, and/or SAS.

• Implement statistical modeling and data mining methods, including regression, classification, clustering, decision trees, and similar techniques.

• Leverage Generative AI and AI-assisted tools, including LLMs, coding assistants, and AutoML platforms, to enhance analytical processes and insight generation.

• Utilize Generative AI methodologies such as prompt engineering, text summarization, classification, and LLM-assisted analysis in business or research contexts.

• Partner with stakeholders to convert business challenges into analytical solutions and effectively communicate results.

• Design and maintain business intelligence solutions and dashboards using Tableau, Power BI, or comparable visualization platforms.

• Establish metrics, verify data quality, and assist in the development of semantic layers to guarantee precise reporting and business insights.

• Adhere to responsible AI principles, encompassing awareness of data privacy, bias mitigation, ethical AI practices, and model limitations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline, with graduation anticipated in 2026.

• At least 2 years of experience in data analysis, quantitative modeling, or data-driven decision-making through academic, internship, research, or professional experiences.

• Proficient in SQL and Python for data analysis, visualization, and modeling tasks.

• Experience with large datasets and distributed data processing frameworks such as Spark.

• Strong grasp of statistics and machine learning fundamentals, including model evaluation methods.

• Practical experience with machine learning libraries and tools like scikit-learn, Jupyter Notebooks, Python, R, and/or SAS.

• Familiarity with Generative AI technologies and AI-assisted analytical workflows.

• Knowledge of business intelligence and visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.

• Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
