Associate Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Represent clients in lawsuits initiated in New York courts.

• Manage various first-party insurance defense cases.

• Conduct legal research and draft briefs, opinions, and memoranda.

• Provide assessments on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department.

• Prepare and manage pleadings, motions, and discovery processes.

• Conduct depositions, examinations before trial, and examinations under oath.

• Defend assigned cases through trial or dispositive hearings as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2 to 6+ years of experience in a related litigation field, specifically in insurance defense and/or personal injury.

• Juris Doctor degree is REQUIRED.

• Admission to the New York Bar is REQUIRED.

• Must be licensed and in good standing to practice law in New York.

• Required to meet and maintain licensing obligations, including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements as applicable.

• Ability to travel as needed for trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences.

• Capable of documenting files in a clear, concise, and professional written format.

• Proficient in following complex instructions, resolving conflicts, or facilitating conflict resolution.

• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to set priorities and multitask effectively.

• Must be able to learn and apply extensive technical and procedural information.

• Civil litigation experience is preferred.

• Experience in insurance defense-related litigation is preferred.

• Excellent professional communication skills are preferred, both in person, via telephone, and in written correspondence/email.
