This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Assist in managing California workers’ compensation defense cases under the supervision of senior attorneys.

• Contribute to the development of case strategies through factual investigations, legal research, and analysis of files.

• Draft legal documents including pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and petitions with appropriate oversight and feedback.

• Prepare for and engage in depositions, hearings, trials, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.

• Effectively communicate case updates and legal analyses to Claims Partners and internal stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.

• Coordinate with opposing counsel, WCAB staff, and external vendors in accordance with office protocols.

• Participate in team meetings, file evaluations, and case strategy discussions to improve legal outcomes and enhance learning.

• Ensure compliance with continuing legal education requirements and remain updated on changes in California workers’ compensation law and WCAB procedures.


⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a recognized law school.

• Active legal license to practice in California; must be a member in good standing of the relevant Bar Association.

• Preferably possess legal internship, law clerk, or early-career litigation experience.

• Familiarity with workers’ compensation or insurance-related litigation is advantageous.

• Strong skills in legal research, writing, and analysis.

• Effective communication abilities with capacity to collaborate in a complex legal and claims environment.

• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint) and a willingness to learn legal technology tools.

• Capability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and progress towards independent case handling.
