This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Draft, review, and respond to petitions, complaints, motions, and written discovery.
• Attend hearings and client meetings as requested.
• Prepare for and participate in depositions.
• Assist in the preparation for and/or take part in mediation and trial.
• Must be willing and able to track billable hours.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned.
• A valid California bar license in good standing is required for this position.
• A Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-approved law school is required.
• At least 2+ years of civil defense litigation experience, preferably in areas such as General Liability, Mass Tort, Toxic Tort, Construction Defect, Labor and Employment, and/or insurance defense litigation.
• Previous experience should encompass managing up to 20 cases simultaneously, taking and defending depositions, court appearances, as well as motion and discovery drafting.
• Mediation and trial experience is highly advantageous.
• Experience mentoring junior associates is a significant plus.
• Basic knowledge of computer operations, internet software, spreadsheet applications, and word processing software is necessary; familiarity with Microsoft products is preferred.
• Capable of typing and operating standard office equipment.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently while demonstrating strong client communication skills.
• Communicates clearly and persuasively in both positive and negative situations; listens effectively and seeks clarification; responds well to inquiries; engages actively in meetings as needed.
• Writes clearly and informatively; edits for spelling and grammar; adjusts writing style to suit various needs; presents numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written material.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision; prioritizes and anticipates work requirements; performs well under occasional pressure and tight deadlines.
• Maintains confidentiality of client and firm information at all times; understands and adheres to the general ethical standards applicable to lawyers.
