Associate Attorney

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Draft, review, and respond to petitions, complaints, motions, and written discovery.

• Attend hearings and client meetings upon request.

• Prepare for and participate in depositions.

• Assist in the preparation for and/or take part in mediation and trial.

• Must be willing and capable of billing.

• Perform any other assigned duties.

⛳️ Requirements

• This role necessitates a California bar license in good standing.

• A minimum of a JD from a law school accredited by the ABA is required.

• At least 2+ years of civil defense litigation experience is preferred, particularly in General Liability, Mass Tort, Toxic Tort, Construction Defect, Labor and Employment, and/or any insurance defense litigation.

• Previous experience should involve managing up to 20 cases simultaneously, taking and defending depositions, court appearances, motion and discovery drafting; mediation and trial experience is a significant advantage; experience in mentoring junior Associates is also a plus.

• Computer skills: Basic understanding of computer operations, internet software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software; familiarity with Microsoft products is preferred. Ability to type and operate office equipment is essential.

• Must be self-motivated and a self-starter, capable of working independently, and possess strong client communication skills.

• Oral Communication: Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in various situations; listens actively and seeks clarification; responds well to inquiries; participates in meetings as needed.

• Written Communication: Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; adapts writing style to suit different needs; effectively presents numerical data; can read and interpret written information.

• Temperament: Capable of working with minimal supervision; effectively prioritizes and anticipates work needs; manages well under pressure and tight deadlines.

• Ethics: Maintains confidentiality of client and firm information at all times; understands and adheres to ethical behavior guidelines applicable to lawyers.
