Assistant Special Education Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Ensure that the school offers suitable programs in the least restrictive environment for all students with special needs.

• Oversee the pre-referral and IEP processes.

• Maintain accurate student data.

• Communicate effectively with parents.

• Guarantee that the school adheres to special education laws and procedures at all times.

• Manage the execution of the school’s IDEA procedures, which includes IEP development, placement, evaluation, and re-evaluation of students with disabilities.

• Maintain documentation in the IEP program and the Education Management System.

• Oversee the enrollment process for students with IEPs.

• Coordinate the arrangement and delivery of IEP mandated services to students.

• Communicate and collaborate with all teachers and Learning Coaches about the instructional program for students with disabilities.

• Write initial special education evaluations and lead initial evaluation meetings.

• Attend IEP meetings as the District Representative.

• Regularly review IEPs to ensure compliance alignment.

• Manage a small caseload of students as necessary.

• Assist in the creation and proper implementation of IEP or 504 plan mandated accommodations for students with special needs during state testing events.

• Directly communicate with parents as needed to address questions.

• Develop a comprehensive understanding of Connections Academy’s curricular options.


⛳️ Requirements

• Must reside in Iowa.

• Master’s Degree in Special Education is preferred.

• Iowa Administrative Certification is preferred.

• Proven experience in leading special education teams.

• Iowa Special Education Certification is required.

• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of successful full-time special education teaching experience.

• Familiarity with special education laws and compliance requirements.

• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Customer-focused approach.

• High degree of adaptability.

• Demonstrated ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.

• Technologically proficient, particularly with Microsoft Office products.

• Willingness to travel occasionally (less than 10%).
