Assistant Principal

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Assist in promoting the Connections Academy Mission Statement, school objectives, and School Improvement Plan.

• Oversee the functions related to student data accounting, including attendance tracking and reporting using dual reporting systems.

• Manage data to facilitate continuous school improvement within a collaborative team environment.

• Utilize various data sources to evaluate student performance and school enhancement.

• Monitor enrollment criteria and communicate these requirements to the CA Enrollment Department.

• Collaborate with the principal and the administrative team to implement, oversee, and manage the Connections Academy School Year Cycle.

• Support the principal in supervising and assessing staff effectiveness within a performance-driven environment.

• Provide leadership to Master Teachers in evaluating staff performance in a results-oriented setting.

• Work with stakeholders to act as a liaison and resource for developing dropout prevention, intervention, and recovery support initiatives for students.

• Oversee the process of reaching out to students within ten days of withdrawal and follow up 20 to 30 days later to ensure they have engaged in alternative educational options.

• Educate parents, students, and staff about mandatory attendance and truancy regulations.

• Investigate absences, interpret and enforce state attendance regulations, issue warnings to offenders, file complaints with relevant agencies, and, if required, participate in court hearings for repeat violators.

• Adhere to and supervise teachers in accordance with the Standards for Teaching at Connections Academy.

• Respond to all Learning Coach inquiries within 24 hours, utilizing WebMail, email, phone, and message board as appropriate.

• Develop and oversee processes for Welcome Calls and Registrant Mailings.

• Document all interactions in user logs.

• Collaborate with Learning Coaches to ensure students remain on track.

• Oversee escalation systems and Escalation Action Plans.

• Supervise and support compliance with state requirements such as PGP and SSI.

• Communicate and assist caretakers/Learning Coaches in effectively supporting their students in a state-aligned curriculum accessible from home or any location with internet access.

• Promote the professional growth of Career Ladder staff.

• Encourage college readiness.

• Supervise the review of student transcripts and the input of credits into the online transcript system.

• Develop and enforce procedures to guarantee the accuracy and timeliness of transcripts.

• Oversee efforts to ensure student records are comprehensive and accurate.

• Authorize official transcripts for families upon request.

• Guide families through the school withdrawal process while assisting with data collection related to withdrawals.

• Lead school teams in identifying community resources and maintain an up-to-date repository of these resources for school teams and families.

• Design and implement professional development activities for educators and school staff.

• Assist the Principal and Executive Director in managing the school’s budget and various grants.

• Provide local support for facility acquisition and maintenance as needed.

• Act as the technology liaison for teachers and administrative personnel.

• Provide support for state testing, including logistics for scheduling, monitoring, tracking participation, and securing testing facilities.

• Manage and facilitate the execution of a state testing plan for a “virtual hub” within the state.

• Monitor and track all school-based assets.

• Support the Marketing Department with student outreach efforts, marketing initiatives, and public relations.

• Stay informed on the state's policies, procedures, and legislation.

• Be available to address all emergencies.

• Undertake all other duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Master’s degree in Education, with Principal Certification (candidates actively pursuing a program leading to Principal certification will also be considered).

• Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience; prior administrative experience in a virtual school is preferred.

• Completion of a TxVSN approved online facilitator’s course or commitment to complete it immediately upon hire.

• Experience in operations, logistics, and/or administration or management.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Customer-centric approach.

• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• Track record as a team player with demonstrated leadership capabilities.

• Strong technology skills, particularly with Microsoft OS and MS Office programs.

• High degree of flexibility, exceptional attention to detail, and outstanding organizational skills.

• Willingness to travel for marketing events, field trips, and state testing.

• Ability to work remotely during state testing and at other times as required.

• Availability to work extended hours.
