This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the primary legal advisor for the PBM business unit, providing guidance to executive leadership on strategy, regulatory updates, and business risks.
• Offer sound and practical judgment in interpreting and applying relevant laws, including state PBM regulations, federal PBM reforms, and HIPAA.
• Exhibit strong business insight and the capability to structure, draft, and negotiate contracts.
• Identify legal and compliance challenges as well as business risks, and propose effective, tailored solutions. Escalate issues to other leaders and the General Counsel as necessary.
• Provide counsel on regulatory matters and assist with inquiries from Departments of Insurance.
• Offer backup legal support for other business units, including the Pharmacy Services unit and rebate aggregation.
• Manage a fast-paced and high-volume workload with effective prioritization.
• Lead and oversee key projects as required.
• Communicate effectively across all levels within VytlOne's business entities.
• Comprehend complex legal, compliance, and business contexts, distinguishing between relevant and non-relevant facts.
• Collaborate across functions and develop a deep understanding of the business and its key stakeholders.
• Continuously enhance and maintain legal knowledge in specialized areas, staying updated on regulations, cases, trends, and best practices.
• Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency while ensuring high service levels.
• Provide leadership within the Legal Department by spearheading initiatives, ensuring staff consistency, and adhering to departmental SOPs.
• Communicate professionally and persuasively, providing appropriate support and justification for legal advice and recommendations.
• Manage and supervise outside counsel when necessary.
• Support the management of litigation matters, including disputes, claims, and regulatory investigations.
• Promptly report any allegations of misconduct to the Compliance Department.
• Adhere to VytlOne’s Ethical Business Conduct policy and Compliance Program.
• Remain in good standing without exclusions under the OIG and SAMS Medicare/Medicaid lists.
• Complete assigned training within the specified timeframes.
• Recruit, train, and develop departmental staff; conduct performance evaluations and provide career coaching.
• Foster teamwork and maintain consistent attendance in line with established policies.
• Carry out other job-related responsibilities as assigned.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and an active Bar license.
• At least 10 years of legal experience, with a significant amount in-house at a pharmacy benefit manager or health insurance carrier; candidates lacking direct in-house PBM or payor experience will not be considered. Experience in healthcare law firms alone does not fulfill this requirement.
• Strong comprehension of state and federal laws governing pharmacy benefit managers, ERISA, HIPAA, and other pertinent healthcare regulations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation capabilities.

• Strong skills in contract drafting and negotiation.
