This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Act as the outsourced Controller for a portfolio of clients located in the US.
• Engage proactively and take part in client calls and meetings.
• Assist in onboarding new clients in collaboration with a US-based Controller.
• Develop accounting processes, systems, and procedures for new client partnerships.
• Oversee special initiatives, including system migrations, M&A preparation, budget planning, and redesigning the chart of accounts.
• Prepare and review accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and management reports.
• Offer strategic financial advice regarding growth, investor reporting, and compliance matters.
• Guide and mentor a team of accounting professionals.
• Delegate daily responsibilities and assess work products for precision and quality.
• Manage workload across various client engagements.
• Organize tasks and team outputs within the Karbon practice management system.
• Dedicate roughly 70% of work to client-related activities and 30% to team-oriented tasks.
• A minimum of 10 years of comprehensive accounting and finance experience.
• At least 3 years in a Controller position within a US-based public accounting firm.
• Experience supporting investor-backed (VC/PE) or rapidly growing businesses generating over $5 Million in annual revenue.
• In-depth technical knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Understanding of US compliance matters, including payroll, sales & use tax, property tax, and business licensing.
• Practical experience with NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online/Desktop, and Advanced Excel.
• Capability to concurrently manage multiple client engagements and onboarding processes.
• Previous experience in a multi-client outsourced or Client Accounting Services (CAS) environment is highly preferred.
• Proven track record in managing, mentoring, and developing accounting team members.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to convert complex financial information into clear, actionable insights.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, integrity, and reliability.
• A humble attitude and openness to feedback and coaching.
• A positive demeanor in all communications.
• Must reside in India.
• Must be fully available from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time or 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Pacific Time.
• This position does not meet the CPA experience requirement involving substantial use of skills relevant to CPA licensing.
