This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Take ownership of technical accounting research and compose memos that address ASC 470 (convertible notes, warrants), ASC 606, ASC 842, stock-based compensation, accounting for new products, and intricate equity and financing transactions.
• Direct global external audit management across all entities, serving as the primary liaison with external auditors.
• Develop and implement the internal control framework while driving SOX readiness.
• Supervise GAAP quality and compliance during the monthly close, identify gaps and exceptions, and maintain high standards within the accounting operations team.
• Manage multi-entity, multi-currency consolidation, intercompany reconciliations, and ensure transfer pricing compliance.
• Map data flows from the data warehouse to NetSuite, recognize gaps, and collaborate with engineering to automate the closing process.
• Construct and automate the reconciliation framework between management reporting and GAAP figures.
• Integrate AI tools within the accounting function to reduce manual tasks.
• Oversee teams in accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and treasury operations.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience with a proven ability to operate at a management level.
• An active CPA designation.
• Experience in a public company setting — you have operated at scale and understand the characteristics of a mature finance function.
• Proven track record as the primary point of contact during external audits, not just as a file preparer.
• Practical experience in drafting technical accounting memos on complex subjects.
• Familiarity with designing internal controls and ensuring SOX compliance.
• Experience in designing systems and automating processes — you have built processes rather than merely maintaining them.
• An automation-first mindset and genuine comfort with AI tools.
• Proficiency in SQL or data-query skills — or a strong willingness to develop them to investigate data issues independently without relying on engineering.
• Experience with NetSuite (configuration, data architecture, or close automation) is a significant advantage.
• Background in travel, fintech, or marketplace platforms is a plus.
• Experience in preparing for an initial public offering (IPO) is an asset.
• Fluency in both French and English is required for this role.
• Well-funded, established startup with ambitious goals — competitive salary and pre-IPO equity participation.
• Hopper covers 100% of group benefits premiums.
• Life, short-term, and long-term disability coverage.
• Health Spending Account (HSA) for eligible medical and dental expenses.
• Access to Dialogue telemedicine services for all employees and their dependents, available anytime and anywhere.
• RRSP with automatic pre-tax contributions with each paycheque.
• Very generous parental leave policy, significantly above industry standards — ask for details.
• Unlimited vacation.
• Carrot Cash travel allowance.
• On-demand access to coworking spaces via FlexDesk and a remote work allowance.
• Entrepreneurial culture where pushing boundaries and taking risks is an integral part of daily operations.
• Open communication with company management and senior leadership.
• Small, dynamic teams resulting in outsized impact.
