Assistant Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Lead, develop, and oversee a team of five accounting professionals.

• Evaluate accounting processes, identify gaps and inefficiencies, and create scalable documented procedures.

• Take ownership of month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and the preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.

• Enhance Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll operations.

• Optimize the use of NetSuite, FloQast, and associated automation tools.

• Support accounting for multiple entities and intercompany transactions, including compliance with ASC 606 revenue recognition.

• Monitor and report on financial metrics such as Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), aged payables, and cash flow indicators.

• Design, document, and enforce internal controls and accounting policies.

• Collaborate with Finance, Operations, and leadership on strategic initiatives and scaling efforts.

• Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, legal counsel, consultants, and other service providers.

• Assist with ad-hoc projects, analyses, and requests from leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.

• CPA certification is required or must be actively pursued, with current exam participation or a defined path to licensure.

• A minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience is necessary.

• At least 3 years in a relevant management position.

• Experience in public accounting with a Big 4 or regional firm is advantageous.

• A thorough understanding of US GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition, multi-entity accounting, and intercompany eliminations.

• Proven experience in enhancing new or early-stage processes with measurable short-term results.

• Demonstrated leadership and team development capabilities.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Familiarity with NetSuite and FloQast is a plus, though not required.

• Experience in IT services, managed services, or SaaS environments is preferred.
