Assistant Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and coordinate the preparation of property financial statements for a portfolio of clients.

• Oversee accounting operations for a dedicated team of accountants.

• Ensure the timely delivery of financial statements in accordance with client deadlines.

• Engage with clients regarding property financial performance and address accounting inquiries.

• Guarantee the accuracy of financial statements generated by the accounting team.

• Supervise the review of rent rolls, bank reconciliations, and monthly operating results relative to the budget.

• Facilitate the preparation and approval process of property financial budgets alongside operational team members.

• Collaborate with the Controller, CFO, and other Assistant Controllers on departmental objectives, policies, and procedures.

• Participate in the hiring process and conduct annual performance evaluations for Senior Accountants, Accountants, and Junior Accountants.

• Enhance efficiency and provide staffing recommendations to achieve performance targets.

• Assist in responding to financial audit inquiries and propose procedural enhancements.

• Travel is not a requirement for this position.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.

• CPA Eligible or CPA Preferred.

• Prior experience in third-party multi-family property management.

• Previous leadership or management experience within an accounting team.

• Strong critical reasoning, quantitative, and analytical abilities.

• Comprehensive understanding of financial principles.

• Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

• Proven organizational capabilities with a focus on detail.
