Archaeology Field Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Performing archaeological pedestrian surveys.

• Collecting archaeological data, including GPS readings, photographs, site forms, site sketches, and artifact sketches.

• Conducting subsurface testing or identifying artifacts.

• Measuring and thoroughly documenting artifacts.

• Producing high-quality field notes.

• Collaborating as part of a team or working independently as needed.

• Carrying out additional duties as requested.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related discipline.

• A minimum of 6 months of archaeological field experience or completion of a field school.

• Experience in conducting archaeological surveys and excavations.

• Capability to work in diverse and often challenging terrains, including hiking distances of 5 to 10 miles per day.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.

• Strong teamwork skills and a proactive approach to project collaboration.

• Exceptional attention to detail and proficient note-taking skills.

• A valid driver's license is required.

• Preferably experienced in operating GPS units and navigating using USGS maps, aerial photography, and a compass.

• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

• Must comprehend and adhere to company safety protocols.

• Access to a laptop or computer is necessary for completing timesheets, expense reports, and administrative tasks.

• Ability to occasionally lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

🏝️ Benefits

• Per Diem typically aligns with GSA rates and varies based on the location of the fieldwork, generally not less than $50 per day.

• Sundance covers hotel or lodging expenses, which are not included in the per diem.
