This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.
• Construct retrospective patient cohorts utilizing longitudinal EHR data.
• Create time-windowed features from medical records while preventing temporal leakage.
• Design and perform internal validation of statistical and machine learning models that predict GLP-1 discontinuation and subsequent weight regain.
• Implement clinical-prediction statistics, including discrimination, calibration, and subgroup performance analysis.
• Convert model outputs into understandable risk tiers in collaboration with clinical advisors.
• Discover promising modeling strategies within a limited research timeframe.
• Document datasets, modeling choices, and validation outcomes to ensure reproducibility and facilitate future production deployment.
• Partner with software engineers to incorporate validated models into production systems.
• Handle de-identified EHR data within a secure data environment of a U.S. partner and collaborate with an obesity-medicine advisor.
• Educational background in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, health data science, machine learning, or a similar quantitative field.
• Approximately 3-6+ years of experience in developing clinical or tabular predictive models.
• Strong foundation in applied statistics.
• Proficiency in tabular machine learning techniques, including gradient boosting and regularized regression.
• Understanding of clinical-prediction methodologies, particularly calibration and validation processes.
• Experience in engineering features from EHR or other longitudinal datasets.
• Solid understanding of data leakage issues.
• Proficient in Python and the scientific Python ecosystem, including libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and others.
• Comfortable working within restricted clinical data environments.
• Knowledge of health data privacy regulations, including HIPAA and GDPR.
• Capacity to balance scientific rigor with practical decision-making in a dynamic research environment.
• Experience in survival or time-to-event modeling is an advantage.
• Prior experience with EHR or claims data, including ICD and RxNorm, particularly in the fields of obesity or metabolic disease, is a plus.
• Experience in developing models for production deployment is also advantageous.
