Applied Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Comprehensive Project Scoping: Assume responsibility for data science projects from the initial problem identification and hypothesis formulation to the delivery of actionable outcomes.

• Product Integration: Transform unique customer insights and solutions into components of the wider, deployable suite of Shift5 core offerings.

• Interdepartmental Collaboration: Collaborate with embedded analysts, deployment strategists, and forward-deployed engineers to convert intricate analyses into immediate value for customers.

• Sophisticated Data Analysis: Conduct advanced statistical analyses to push boundaries, interpret trends, and innovate in utilizing operational data for diagnostic and predictive purposes.

• System Enhancement: Collaborate closely with programmers, engineers, and leadership to pinpoint process enhancements, suggest system modifications, and develop long-term data strategies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Technical Proficiencies: Proficiency in a universal analytics coding language (Python, SQL, R, or Matlab) and robust data needs assessment skills (determining the necessary data and technical tests to validate hypotheses).

• Communication & Attitude: Outstanding communication abilities with a proven history of conveying highly technical information to non-technical audiences. A humble and open disposition towards feedback is essential.

• Travel Flexibility: Willingness and capability to travel up to 40% of the time (within the US only).

• Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with time-series data, and a combination of experience and education (preferably a Master's or Doctorate) in Data Science. Experience in defense, aerospace, or cybersecurity is highly advantageous.
