
Application Engineer – Refrigeration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.
• Promptly address technical inquiries from clients.
• Collaborate closely with distributors, contractors, and OEMs to deliver appropriate solutions for their project needs.
• Aid customers in utilizing product selection software.
• Assist clients in employing heat load calculation software.
• Support customers in selecting refrigerant line components, choosing suitable electrical switch gears, and sizing refrigerant lines, among other tasks.
• Maintain a technical library and assist in the development of catalogs, application engineering bulletins, and user manuals.
• Create cross-reference documents with competing products.
• Engage with clients regarding alternative refrigerants.
• Investigate new applications within the region.
• Facilitate the transition from semi-hermetic compressors to scroll technology.
• Lead new business opportunities for refrigeration products in the MEA region in collaboration with the Sales team.
• Develop and oversee a training schedule and create technical training materials.
• Conduct training sessions, including hands-on instruction on controllers and protections used in condensing units and compressors.
• Organize the tools and resources necessary for the training center.
• Manage warranty claims and offer troubleshooting assistance for both production and field failures.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) through data logging, field visits, and compressor disassembly analysis.
• Collaborate with manufacturing plants to provide feedback aimed at enhancing product performance.
• Analyze and maintain warranty data to support ongoing improvement initiatives.
• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• 8-10 years of experience in HVACR design, projects, service, technical support, or training in the HVACR sector.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, refrigeration systems, and controls.
• Technical proficiency in troubleshooting and application support.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in multicultural teams.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant technical software tools.
• Willingness to travel throughout the African region.
• Capability to work outside typical office settings when necessary.
