Android Engineer Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance features for the Branch Android application utilized by customers.

• Create seamless, dependable, and user-friendly mobile experiences.

• Collaborate with backend teams to implement APIs and support new product functionalities.

• Enhance app performance, stability, and the overall user experience.

• Address issues, minimize app crashes, and increase the app's speed and reliability.

• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and engineers to deliver features from start to finish.

• Provide support for third-party integrations including payments, authentication, analytics, and marketing.

• Engage in code reviews, technical discussions, and teamwork.

• Take responsibility for features and projects from development through to release.

• Contribute to the quality, testing, and maintainability of the Android codebase.

• Propose enhancements and contribute to technical and architectural discussions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Some experience in building native Android applications beyond simple projects.

• Experience with applications that have real users or contributions to open-source projects is a plus.

• Strong foundation in computer science principles.

• Good understanding of Android development using Kotlin.

• Familiarity with contemporary Android development practices and frameworks.

• Strong knowledge of modern Android UI development employing Jetpack Compose.

• Capability to create responsive and scalable UI components while managing UI state.

• Familiarity with modern Android architecture and design patterns.

• Experience in building features that interact with REST APIs and backend services.

• Familiarity with third-party integrations like authentication, analytics, payments, or messaging platforms is advantageous.

• Profound understanding of app performance, crash debugging, stability, and reliability in Android.

• Curiosity for new technologies and eagerness to learn beyond mobile development.

• Proven proficiency with modern AI-assisted development workflows.

• Clear and organized written and verbal communication skills.

• Comfortable working asynchronously.

• Understanding of web fundamentals, data modeling, and distributed systems.

• Knowledge of modular, scalable solutions, security, performance, and observability.

• Experience with automated testing and creating testable code.

• Ability to navigate and assess unfamiliar codebases.

• Understanding of the complete software development lifecycle.

• Ability to deconstruct ambiguous projects into detailed, estimable tasks.

• Capability to collaborate with product, design, and other departments.

• Ability to critically use AI tools while managing prompt injection, data leakage, and secret-management risks.
