Analyst / COBOL PL Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Provide support to development teams for z/OS operating system activities;

• Assist with z/OS utility operations;

• Evaluate application performance within the z/OS environment and collaborate with technologies and tools for DevOps;

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma;

• Proficiency in programming with Enterprise COBOL 4.0 or higher;

• Familiarity with IBM mainframe platform components, including z/OS, DB2, CICS, JCL, TSO, MainView, Strobe, Control‑M, Xpediter, Abend‑Aid, File‑Aid, Endevor, SDFII, Eccox or similar technologies, IBM Sterling Connect:Direct for z/OS, Rational Developer for z Systems - RDZ or similar, and MQ Series;

• Understanding of online and batch applications (balanced line), CICS, TSO, JCL (e.g., sort, IDCAMS), relational databases such as DB2 and/or CA‑IDMS, VSAM files (KSDS/ESDS), DUMP analysis, and utilization of Endevor;

• Experience as an analyst on a mainframe platform;

• Background in developing CICS transactions (multithreading);

• Knowledge of relational database modeling and performance analysis;

• Experience in developing DB2 Native Stored Procedures;

• Understanding of service-oriented architecture (SOA);

• Awareness of code quality practices and mainframe application performance evaluation;

• Experience with CICS access interfaces, CICS/WEB, Broker, and MQ Series;

• Familiarity with CICS structure (definitions and configurations);

• Business modeling abilities using CA‑GEn 8 or higher;
