This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
β’ Assist in the airworthiness certification process for military commercial derivative aircraft (MCDA).
β’ Act as a technical authority on certification strategies, linking FAA Title 14 CFR Part 25 regulatory standards with MIL-HDBK-516C military airworthiness guidelines.
β’ Collaborate effectively with government and prime contractor stakeholders to ensure aircraft certification is compliant, safe, and completed on schedule.
β’ Offer Subject Matter Expert (SME) level expertise in engine performance, installation, fuel/oil systems, and their integration with the airframe.
β’ Function as the technical SME for aircraft certification, ensuring adherence to FAA regulations and MIL-HDBK-516C airworthiness standards.
β’ Create, evaluate, and implement certification plans for MCDA initiatives.
β’ Engage with military airworthiness authorities and DER/DAR representatives to facilitate approval processes.
β’ Identify and address certification gaps resulting from the interplay between civil and military airworthiness requirements.
β’ Guide junior engineers and aid in the enhancement of internal certification processes, tools, and best practices.
β’ Undertake additional responsibilities as required.
β’ A Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a comparable technical field.
β’ Over 15 years of experience in aircraft certification related to propulsion, with direct participation in FAA type certification or supplemental type certificate (STC) programs.
β’ Previous experience with military commercial derivative aircraft programs is preferred.
β’ Capability to pass a Tier 1 (minimum) investigation for work on Department of Defense contracts.
β’ Existing security clearance is preferred.
β’ FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) authorization in one or more areas.
β’ Must possess a comprehensive understanding of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14CFR - particularly Chapter I, Part 25).
β’ Experience in program management, strong communication skills, and a proven ability to coordinate certification programs for alterations and modifications are required.
β’ Experience in generating certification documents such as ICAs, Ground/Flight Test Plans, Compliance Checklists, Project Specific Certification Plans, etc. is desirable.
β’ All travel expenses are covered (including flights, hotel accommodations, rental car, GSA per diem, etc.).
