This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, establish, and sustain enterprise-level AI/ML product management pipelines throughout the complete model lifecycle, encompassing data ingestion, experimentation, deployment, monitoring, and decommissioning.
• Develop and document AI/ML architecture blueprints, reference architectures, and technical standards that align with VA governance standards and federal AI policy.
• Collaborate with VA AI governance entities, program offices, and contracting leadership to evaluate AI product readiness, pinpoint pipeline deficiencies, and suggest MLOps tools, platforms, and process enhancements.
• Define and enforce model risk management practices, including bias detection, model drift monitoring, explainability frameworks, and audit-trail requirements.
• Work alongside data engineers, data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to convert business requirements into scalable ML system designs.
• Provide technical oversight during iterative development and integration of CI/CD pipelines.
• Prepare and deliver technical briefings, white papers, and strategic roadmaps for senior VA leadership and stakeholders.
• Over 5 years of practical experience in AI/ML architecture, data science engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• Proven experience in establishing or maintaining enterprise-level AI/ML product management pipelines.
• Previous experience supporting federal agency clients or large-scale regulated industries such as healthcare, finance, or defense.
• Capability to obtain and maintain a VA Position of Public Trust suitability clearance.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
• U.S. citizenship may be necessary for VA network access and background investigation requirements.
• Profound knowledge of MLOps frameworks, platforms, and tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, SageMaker, Azure ML, and DataRobot.
• Experience with contemporary CI/CD practices for ML systems, including model versioning, pipeline orchestration, and automated testing.
• Desired: experience supporting VA, HHS, DoD, or another federal health agency AI/data program.
• Desired: familiarity with federal AI governance frameworks, including NIST AI RMF 1.0, Executive Orders 13960/14110, and OMB AI memoranda.
• Desired: experience designing AI/ML systems that handle PHI and PII in compliance with HIPAA, the Privacy Act, and FedRAMP.
• Desired: capability to build or enhance an AI Center of Excellence, AI governance board, or model registry function.
• Desired: expertise in cloud-native ML architectures on AWS GovCloud, Microsoft Azure Government, or Google Cloud government offerings, including ATO processes.
