AI Web Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take ownership and enhance the web interfaces that support Directive, including the internal strategist portal, the external client portal, reporting builder, campaign management tools, administration and portfolio surfaces, and the corporate marketing website.

• Develop and manage the advertisements and campaign management user interface utilizing third-party ad APIs, incorporating campaign builders, bulk editing workflows, audience and budget management, and creative tools.

• Create and maintain data metrics views and dashboards powered by BigQuery, MySQL, and Postgres, which includes widget components, chart rendering, and the queries that support them.

• Oversee containerization with Docker and AWS infrastructure, managing EC2 deployments and DevOps pipelines with an emphasis on reliable delivery and automation.

• Administer GitHub Actions and automated CI/CD pipelines to guarantee reliable iterations within staging and smooth delivery to production.

• Design and optimize relational database schemas and data structures.

• Ensure maintenance of highly available and scalable architectures; supervise Nginx setups, load balancing, and secure infrastructure to bolster system resilience.

• Manage the complete reporting user interface: report listings, creation, details, template management, PDF export, drag-and-drop widget reordering, and widget-level date overrides.

• Oversee the administration and portfolio surfaces: client CRUD operations, user management, OAuth flows, CRM integration configuration, and alert notifications.

• Handle the background and integration layer: queue-based synchronization jobs, CRM synchronization (Salesforce, HubSpot), ad platform integrations (LinkedIn, Google Ads, Meta), data pipelines, authentication and sessions, logging, and error tracking.

• Collaborate on the AI-facing user interface layer: present LLM outputs, streaming responses, tool executions, and agent conversations clearly, with well-defined states for loading, errors, and partial results.

• Utilize AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) as a daily accelerator to scaffold, iterate, and refactor production React/TypeScript, maintaining strong review instincts to ensure AI-generated code meets our standards.

• Convert Figma mockups and loose specifications into production-ready components, ensuring adherence to design system usage, accessibility (WCAG), and performance standards.

• Manage authentication, RBAC, and secure data exposure patterns (row-level security, parameterized queries, least-privilege keys) on the web tier.

• Implement telemetry and error tracking to ensure issues are identified and resolved before clients encounter them, with product decisions supported by data.

• Assume ownership of modules from our outgoing agency partner: review existing code, document patterns, stabilize rough edges, and enhance them within our internal roadmap.

• Deliver, support, and iterate: resolve bugs, enhance performance, reduce loading times, and refine user experience based on actual usage.

• Document components, patterns, and design choices so the team can build upon your work.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience: At least 3 years of professional web development, with direct ownership of user-facing applications.

• Frontend: Proficient in React and TypeScript; familiarity with modern frameworks (Next.js, Remix, or similar); skilled in component design, state management, and performance profiling.

• Full-Stack Range: Capable of managing both the backend and the UI: API routes, serverless functions, authentication flows, database queries, and background jobs.

• AI-Assisted Development: Regularly uses Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar tools to enhance real frontend engineering workflows. You produce production-grade React/TypeScript, avoiding platform-restricted low-code outputs. You understand how to prompt, review, and refactor AI-generated code to prevent shipping errors.

• LLM Integration: Proven experience integrating LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google) into web applications: streaming, tool/function invocation, structured outputs, timeouts, retries, and implementing guardrails.

• Data & SQL: Comfortable querying MySQL, Postgres, and BigQuery; able to structure data for UI consumption and validate outcomes.

• Advanced SQL & Query Layer: Expertise in Knex and MySQL to design high-performance, scalable data structures and queries.

• Relational & Real-time Data: Proficient in MySQL, Postgres, and Supabase (or equivalent); possesses a deep understanding of RLS, storage, edge functions, and real-time subscription methodologies.

• APIs & Integrations: Knowledgeable in REST/GraphQL, OAuth2/OIDC/JWT, webhooks, pagination, rate limits, and idempotency; comfortable integrating with HubSpot, Salesforce, LinkedIn Ads, Google Ads, GA4, or similar platforms.

• Background Jobs: Familiar with queue-based systems (BullMQ, SQS, or similar) for synchronization jobs, scheduled tasks, and long-running processes.

• Cloud Delivery: Experienced in deploying to managed platforms (GCP or AWS) with CI/CD and observability established.

• Design Sensibility: Capable of transforming a Figma file or rough sketch into a polished, on-brand, accessible user interface without direct designer assistance.

• Ownership & Communication: Works effectively with incomplete specifications and inherited code. Asks insightful questions, delivers iteratively, and drives project outcomes.
