AI Technical Lead – C++ Ecosystem

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.

📋 Description

• Design and implement AI-driven features for CLion and C++ development processes.

• Create the architecture for AI integrations, agent tools, and AI capabilities specific to C++.

• Develop actionable benchmarks and evaluation frameworks for AI-assisted C++ development scenarios.

• Prototype and test new AI workflows, encompassing debugging, code comprehension, refactoring, and project navigation.

• Collaborate with product managers, ML engineers, QA engineers, stakeholders, and senior developers to shape and execute the project roadmap.

• Work in close partnership with JetBrains AI, ML, and product teams to help establish the AI strategy for the C++ ecosystem.

• Assess and prioritize AI initiatives, introducing innovative ideas and proposals that align with the wider JetBrains AI strategy.

• Contribute directly to technical design, software architecture, and implementation within a large, mature codebase.

• Assist in defining a technical roadmap for AI agent and tool integrations within C++ development workflows.

• Foster trust and alignment across the C++ Ecosystem, AI, Product, QA, and ML organizations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive software engineering experience in roles such as Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, Technical Lead, or another senior technical position.

• Proficient in Kotlin, Java, or other JVM technologies, or the capability to swiftly become effective in a JVM-based environment.

• Experience in developing AI-powered products, developer tools, coding assistants, agents, or LLM-based workflows.

• Solid understanding of the functioning of modern coding agents, including tool invocation, context management, MCP, and evaluation methods.

• Proven ability to steer technical direction in uncertain and rapidly changing fields.

• Strong product instincts with the ability to balance innovation against practical delivery.

• Exceptional communication skills with the capability to influence without formal authority.
