AI Security & Controls Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Facilitates the secure, responsible, and scalable integration of AI by establishing, implementing, and assessing AI-specific security and risk controls throughout the AI lifecycle.

• Acts as a connector between AI engineering, information security, privacy, and third-party risk teams.

• Collaborates closely with AI Engineers & Developers, Information Security, and governance teams to set AI-specific security and risk management standards.

• Converts enterprise security principles and risk frameworks into guidance tailored for AI.

• Establishes expectations for AI runtime monitoring and incident response.

• Ensures that AI security guidelines remain in line with changing technology trends, external requirements, and internal architectures.

• Contributes to the overall AI policy framework by ensuring that security requirements are clearly linked to AI governance policies, controls, and standards.

• Works with third-party risk and supplier governance teams to recognize AI-specific risks.

• Serves as a trusted advisor to AI engineering, product, privacy, and security teams on the safe design and deployment of AI systems.

• Offers practical guidance that reconciles security rigor with business agility.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of relevant experience (or equivalent expertise) in information security, technology risk, AI governance, model risk management, privacy engineering, or similar roles.

• Strong knowledge of AI architectures, machine learning pipelines, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agentic and tool-using AI patterns.

• Proven capability to translate technical AI and security concepts into clear control expectations and guidance.

• Experience in cross-functional collaboration with engineering, security, privacy, and risk teams.

• Practical, risk-oriented mindset with excellent judgment and attention to detail.

• Outstanding written communication skills; capable of producing clear, defensible documentation.

• Relevant certifications are preferred (e.g., AAISM, CISSP, CISM, CRISC, AIGP, cloud security certifications).

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
