AI Research Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Oversee independent research initiatives focused on AI evaluation methodologies, alignment strategies, and synthetic data generation.

• Create and execute innovative evaluation frameworks for LLMs and agent systems that are based on human data.

• Contribute to the scholarly AI community through publications and contributions to open-source projects.

• Remain at the cutting edge of AI research and develop pioneering methods to address significant open challenges in the field.

• Design and perform comprehensive experiments to analyze AI models and systems using robust methodological practices.

• Establish scalable frameworks for the systematic evaluation of model behaviors and capabilities.

• Develop tools and frameworks that convert research findings into actionable applications.

• Construct infrastructure to facilitate large-scale research experiments when necessary.

• Leverage knowledge in model fine-tuning, optimization techniques, distillation, and other machine learning engineering practices to advance research objectives.

• Collaborate with ML engineers, data scientists, and product teams to translate research insights into practical applications.

• Guide team members in advanced AI concepts and emerging research trends.

• Articulate complex technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience with a strong focus on AI/ML.

• Proven research experience demonstrated through publications, open-source contributions, or significant projects.

• Solid engineering fundamentals and experience in implementing AI systems within production settings.

• In-depth understanding of LLM evaluation methodologies, alignment strategies, and model optimization techniques.

• Familiarity with model fine-tuning, adapters, quantization, and distillation frameworks.

• Self-driven with the ability to define and pursue independent research directions.

• Comprehensive understanding of current issues related to AI safety, reliability, and alignment.

• Strong communication abilities, with the capacity to clearly explain complex research concepts.

• A genuine passion for keeping up with the rapidly changing landscape of AI research.
