AI Program Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee comprehensive technical program management for AI strategy, governance, and operational initiatives within the VA, encompassing planning, scheduling, resource allocation, risk assessment, and performance analysis.

• Create and uphold program management documentation, including project plans, risk registers, status updates, roadmaps, and program briefs.

• Facilitate collaboration across various VA business sectors, technical teams, and federal partners.

• Track and assess program performance against established metrics and milestones, recognizing risks and proposing corrective measures.

• Assist in the development and execution of AI governance frameworks, intake processes, review boards, policy documents, and accountability structures.

• Prepare and present briefings, executive summaries, and decision-support documents for senior VA officials and program stakeholders.

• Convert technical program updates into straightforward, actionable insights.

• Act as a bridge between technical teams, agency stakeholders, and leadership to guarantee the timely delivery of AI initiatives, ensuring they are within scope and aligned with federal policies and VA mission objectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in providing technical program leadership.

• Proven history of organizing, executing, and assessing complex technical program initiatives.

• No specific educational requirement; a combination of education, certifications, and relevant professional experience will be evaluated.

• Prior experience working with federal agency clients, ideally the Department of Veterans Affairs or another federal health, defense, or civilian organization.

• Capability to obtain and sustain VA network access.

• Must satisfy applicable federal background investigation requirements.

• Must be eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

• Experience in managing cross-functional teams and stakeholder relationships within a matrixed federal contracting or governmental program environment.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

• PMP or an equivalent program management certification is highly preferred.

• Knowledge of federal AI policies and governance frameworks, including OMB AI memoranda, Executive Order 14110, and VA AI governance directives.

• Experience in supporting AI, data, or emerging technology initiatives within a federal health IT or veterans-focused organization.

• Familiarity with Agile and hybrid program management methodologies in federal contracting scenarios.

• Experience in developing governance documentation, program charters, or policy frameworks for technological initiatives in a large federal agency.
