AI-First Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance cloud-native data pipelines on AWS — encompassing ETL/ELT and the underlying infrastructure (Aurora, Redshift, dbt, Spark/EMR, Airflow, CDC) — incorporating AI tools as a standard element of the workflow.

• Design and refine the data models that support analytics, operational use cases, and AI/ML across numerous studios.

• Elevate data reliability standards — integrate governance, testing, and lineage to ensure that both individuals and AI systems can inherently trust the data.

• Collaborate with product and other engineering teams to transform vague business challenges into solid data solutions.

• Assess and advance new methodologies with us — including data mesh patterns and emerging AI tools — and contribute to decisions regarding what merits inclusion in our technology stack.

• Expand into our financial and regulatory reporting workstream (Finion Capital), where accuracy and auditability are paramount.

⛳️ Requirements

• **3+ years** of experience in data engineering with an emphasis on data warehousing — and the enthusiasm to take on greater ownership than previously held.

• Proficiency in SQL and Python for data-related tasks.

• Experience *with* AI tools feels instinctive to you — and equally important is the discernment to **review and validate** their outputs. You consider AI-generated results as drafts to be vetted, rather than definitive answers, particularly where accuracy is critical.

• A strong understanding of data architecture and modeling principles (dimensional modeling, slowly-changing dimensions, incremental patterns) — or the eagerness to quickly enhance your knowledge.

• Practical experience with **dbt on a cloud warehouse** — this will be your daily environment.

• Familiarity with relational databases and some exposure to non-relational databases (DynamoDB, MongoDB).

• A proven history of diagnosing complex data issues and delivering robust solutions.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
