This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more state.
• Take charge of the complete design and engineering quality for Innovation Crew pilots and prototypes, from the initial brief or wireframe through backend services, API integration, and a refined interface.
• Ensure that the deliverables for engineering leadership and business stakeholders are visually coherent, accessible, and understandable to non-technical audiences.
• Create interaction patterns that involve human oversight for autonomous systems.
• Develop interfaces for monitoring agent traces, auditing reasoning outcomes, modifying parameters, and highlighting anomalies.
• Establish and maintain a collective design system and component library, which includes streaming output displays, agent status indicators, trace inspection views, confidence surfaces, and human-review interfaces.
• Define UX standards and interaction language for AI Assistants and Copilots functionalities.
• Conduct light user research and usability tests with internal stakeholders and business unit partners.
• Collaborate with the Principal AI Engineer on evaluation interfaces and dashboards for agent observability.
• Advocate for WCAG accessibility standards and performance engineering.
• Implement JD Power brand guidelines in all externally presented outputs.
• Contribute to the Emerging Technology Radar process by evaluating UX and frontend technologies.
• Suggest Architecture Decision Records for the accepted AI interaction patterns.
• Experience in full-stack engineering with a focus on frontend development.
• Capability to construct backend services, connect data sources, and create polished production-quality interfaces.
• Experience in the production environment with AI-driven systems.
• Familiarity with streaming outputs, agent interaction surfaces, human-review workflows, trace inspection interfaces, or similar functionalities.
• Awareness that LLM systems are non-deterministic and necessitate regular inspection.
• Proficiency in React or an equivalent frontend framework.
• Experience with contemporary design systems.
• Ability to conceptualize interactions and implement them in code.
• Competence in seamlessly transitioning between Figma and code.
• Experience with agent observability tools such as Langfuse, LangSmith, Phoenix/Arize, or similar.
• Skills in data visualization aimed at non-technical audiences.
• Knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards.
• Familiarity with the JD Power product ecosystem or its user base.
• Experience in evaluation harness design or knowledge of LLM-as-judge patterns.
• Strong intuition for product development centered around user needs from AI agents.
• Salary range of $130,000–$160,000 USD or $115,000–$130,000 CAD per year.
