AI Engineering Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the AI Hub Center of Excellence charter and integrate Enterprise AI with Patient Services engineering.

• Ingest and operationalize GCP, Vertex AI, Claude, and Gemini Enterprise within the software development lifecycle.

• Transform engineering practices into an AI-augmented model that encompasses development, QA, and business analysis.

• Promote the adoption of AI-first workflows and tools.

• Design frameworks for agent deployment and lifecycle management on Vertex AI.

• Create reusable RAG, tool-calling, MCP, and orchestration patterns.

• Establish standards for the construction, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and retirement of production agents.

• Manage AI governance, compliance, model selection, PHI/HIPAA handling, and evaluation frameworks.

• Facilitate data-flow approval and BAA verification in collaboration with InfoSec.

• Oversee the AI risk register and governance of the prompt/pattern library.

• Lead a hybrid team that operates onshore/offshore in a follow-the-sun model.

• Plan parallel-track delivery for AI MVPs and technology workstreams.

• Define AI velocity KPIs and provide quarterly progress and ROI reports to the CTO and CFO.

• Act as the senior technical AI representative for executive and vendor stakeholders.

• Collaborate with ACTICS, NiCE, MuleSoft, and product teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering.

• More than 3 years in a technical lead or architect role.

• Proven experience in architecting and deploying LLM-based systems or AI agents in production.

• Hands-on expertise with Vertex AI, AWS Bedrock, or Azure OpenAI.

• Experience with Claude, Gemini, or other leading LLMs.

• Familiarity with RAG, tool usage/function calling, CrewAI, LangChain, Vertex Agent Builder, and MCP.

• Experience in introducing tools like Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or other AI-assisted development tools.

• Knowledge of Salesforce and enterprise integration methods, such as MuleSoft.

• Strong understanding of HIPAA/PHI handling, AI model risk, and data security.

• Exceptional executive communication skills suitable for CTO/CFO audiences.

• Experience in leading distributed teams across onshore/offshore locations.

• Preferred: background in healthcare, life sciences, or pharmaceutical patient services technology.

• Preferred: experience in establishing an AI Center of Excellence.

• Preferred: familiarity with Salesforce Health Cloud, Apex, or LWC.

• Preferred: experience in vendor management within the AI or healthcare technology sectors.
