AI Engineer, Virtual

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Develop the AI engineering platform that drives AI delivery throughout Alight.

• Design agent patterns, retrieval systems, and safety measures for agentic assistants.

• Create an MCP server that includes a skills registry for AI coding agents.

• Generate reusable LangGraph agent patterns for orchestration, memory management, tool usage, safety, and guardrails.

• Establish an agent evaluation platform utilizing DeepEval and Ragas with CI/CD quality gates.

• Construct document ingestion and retrieval pipelines featuring chunking, embeddings, vector searches, reranking, and citations.

• Automate CI/CD and deployment processes for AI agents on AWS using ECS, Fargate, and Agent Core.

• Develop AI-enabled devcontainers that incorporate integrated tooling, validation, and testing.

• Monitor production workloads with OpenTelemetry and create dashboards for tracking LLM costs and tokens.

• Transform governance controls into pipeline checks and automatically gather evidence.

• Implement semantic caching, rate limiting, and graceful degradation for agent workloads.

• Create reference implementations, SDK and CLI tools, and documentation for fellow engineers.

• Collaborate on AI initiatives that serve over 30 million individuals and address their health, wealth, and time-off needs.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency in Python, version 3.10 or higher.

• Familiarity with essential AWS services, including IAM, ECS/Fargate, and networking.

• Comfort in cloud-native environments.

• Strong software engineering skills, including experience with Git/GitHub, code reviews, testing, documentation, and writing clean code.

• Security-conscious when managing sensitive data, secrets, permissions, and data protection.

• Demonstrated expertise in at least one area such as AI agent development, data and retrieval engineering, quality and evaluation, platform and infrastructure, observability and operations, or developer experience.

• Experience with LangGraph or similar technologies, multi-agent orchestration, memory management, tool usage, guardrails, prompt design, and workflow design.

• Understanding of chunking, embeddings, vector searches, RAG, hybrid search, reranking, and retrieval evaluation.

• Knowledge of DeepEval, Ragas, CI/CD quality gates, groundedness and safety metrics, and AI test automation.

• Familiarity with CI/CD, Terraform, AWS ECS/Fargate container orchestration, secrets management, IAM, and progressive deployment.

• Knowledge of OpenTelemetry tracing, dashboards, alerting, LLM cost and token tracking, and feedback loops.

• Understanding of MCP servers, devcontainers, CLI and SDK tooling, prompt libraries, documentation, and reference implementations.

• Must possess work authorization in the Employing Country that does not currently or in the future require visa sponsorship.
