AI Engineer – Forward Deployed Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Create innovative GenAI solutions utilizing the latest Databricks AI research methodologies to address customer challenges

• Manage the deployment of both consumer-facing and internal GenAI applications

• Act as a reliable technical consultant to clients across diverse sectors

• Deliver presentations at events such as the Data + AI Summit and function as a thought leader both internally and externally

• Work closely with product and engineering teams to influence project priorities and help shape the product roadmap

• Provide professional services to assist customers in developing and launching pioneering AI applications

• Aid internal subject matter expert teams and contribute to long-term strategic goals and initiatives

⛳️ Requirements

• Experienced engineer; this position is not suitable for internships, recent graduates, or entry-level candidates

• Proven experience in developing GenAI applications, including RAG, multi-agent systems, Text2SQL, and fine-tuning

• Familiarity with HuggingFace, LangChain, and DSPy

• Proficient in deploying production-level GenAI applications, including assessment and optimization

• Significant hands-on experience in industry data science

• Knowledge of pandas, scikit-learn, and PyTorch

• Experience in building production-ready machine learning deployments on AWS, Azure, or GCP

• A graduate degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or Operations Research, or equivalent practical experience

• Ability to communicate and/or teach technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

• Preferred: experience working with the Databricks Intelligence Platform and Apache Spark for processing large-scale distributed datasets

• Willingness to travel every 4–8 weeks to meet with customers as necessary

• If access to export-controlled technology or source code is necessary, employment may depend on a U.S. government licensing decision
