AI Engineer – Backend (m/w/d)

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Design and implementation of maintainable, well-tested backend services and full-stack applications with a focus on clean code, TDD, and robust architecture.

• Development of business-specific AI applications such as RAG systems, assistants, and generative text processing based on existing large language models.

• Utilization of modern AI tools to enhance development speed and quality.

• Integration of AI models and services into existing systems and workflows.

• Development of data integration solutions for continuous, automated data flow.

• Preparation and processing of data for AI applications.

• Design, documentation, and provision of APIs.

• Establishment of automated tests and CI/CD pipelines.

• Continuous evaluation and improvement of software components and RAG pipelines.

• Contribution to the optimization of business processes and achievement of strategic company goals.

• Collaboration with various teams and communication of technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in professional software development, ideally in a senior role.

• Advanced knowledge of Python for backend, data engineering, and prototyping, or a comparable language.

• Proficiency in TypeScript and/or C# is a plus.

• Experience in clean code, test-driven development, automated testing, and code reviews.

• Strong knowledge of RAG pipelines and vector databases.

• Practical experience with LLM-based applications.

• Solid backend foundation with basic frontend knowledge, e.g., TypeScript/React.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and align solutions with tangible benefits.

• Competence in conveying technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborating with various teams.

• Proficiency in German at least at C1 level in both spoken and written form.

• Residency in Germany, Austria, or Spain.

• Experience with AI tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code, or agent-based development is desirable.

• Ability to plan and execute development projects is a plus.

• Clear and precise technical documentation skills are preferred.

• Openness to creative ideas and new approaches is desirable.
