This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.
• Lead the architecture, development, and enhancement of (generative) AI applications, emphasizing model evaluation, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and prompt engineering.
• Develop comprehensive RAG pipelines (ingestion, chunking, embeddings, retrieval, re-ranking) and seamlessly integrate them with internal data sources.
• Create and incorporate data storage solutions for AI applications utilizing vector search in Snowflake and relational databases like PostgreSQL.
• Evaluate and integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring high data quality and preparing it for effective AI-driven solutions.
• Experiment with LLM models (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI) to enhance performance, reliability, and applicability across various business cases.
• Establish and uphold strong engineering practices for GenAI applications (testing, observability, security, performance optimization).
• Collaborate closely with our AI platform team to advance, standardize, and scale AI-driven capabilities throughout the BMW Group.
• Work in partnership with diverse business units, assisting them in leveraging AI models for practical applications and ongoing enhancements.
• Share your expertise in Generative AI, LLM orchestration, and software engineering with other teams, fostering knowledge-sharing and innovation within the organization.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 7 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on backend or data-intensive applications.
• Strong expertise in Python and experience in building production systems.
• Deep understanding of software development best practices (clean code, unit/integration testing, code reviews, CI/CD).
• Practical experience with LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI) and LLM orchestration frameworks like LangGraph.
• Demonstrated experience with RAG architectures and vector databases/embeddings.
• Experience in data ingestion and preprocessing for LLM applications (ETL, data pipelines, document processing).
• Familiarity with implementing guardrails, safety checks, and evaluation frameworks for LLM applications.
• Knowledge of MLOps or LLMOps concepts and best practices for deploying, monitoring, and maintaining AI models and AI-enabled services in production.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, agile environment.
