AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and implement AI and machine learning models for practical applications.

• Create and enhance AI-driven tools using technologies such as OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or open-source large language models (LLMs).

• Develop scalable APIs and backend services tailored for AI applications.

• Fine-tune machine learning models to enhance performance.

• Work with both structured and unstructured datasets for training and inference purposes.

• Apply prompt engineering techniques and establish retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines.

• Integrate AI solutions into web platforms, customer relationship management systems, and business applications.

• Monitor the performance, reliability, and scalability of AI models in production.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to outline AI product requirements and create technical roadmaps.

• Keep abreast of new AI technologies, frameworks, and best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of experience in AI engineering, machine learning, or software engineering.

• Proficient in Python alongside AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, LangChain, or Hugging Face.

• Experience with large language models (LLMs), generative AI tools, and prompt engineering methodologies.

• Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, and RAG architectures.

• Knowledge of cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Experience in developing REST APIs and scalable backend systems.

• Understanding of MLOps, model deployment, and monitoring processes.

• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Experience in remote or distributed team settings is a plus.
