This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Design, create, and deploy production-grade agentic AI workflows on the Vertex / Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform that automate comprehensive business operations processes from start to finish.
• Integrate Gemini, Claude, Slack (Slackbot), and Atlassian Rovo to orchestrate multi-model, multi-tool agents that can reason, retrieve, call APIs, and execute actions across Tempo's ecosystem instead of being confined to a single tool.
• Collaborate initially with PMO, Procurement, and Enterprise Applications, then extend to Accounting, FP&A, RevOps, and the CFO organization to pinpoint high-value automation opportunities and transform them into delivered workflows.
• Conduct discovery sessions with operational stakeholders: map existing processes, define the desired state, and outline what should be automated, what should assist, and what should remain manual.
• Implement tool usage and function calling to enable agents to retrieve data, trigger APIs, and perform actions across Jira, Confluence, Slack, Google Workspace, procurement and finance systems, and other internal applications.
• Develop retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and memory-enabled agents that leverage Tempo's knowledge to ensure outputs are precise, up-to-date, and contextually aware.
• Create reliable prompts, agent instructions, and orchestration logic; select the appropriate model for each task and optimize for quality, latency, and cost-effectiveness.
• Establish guardrails, human-in-the-loop approvals, logging, and evaluation in every workflow, treating safety, auditability, and data governance as essential requirements in collaboration with the AI Ops governance framework.
• Equip workflows with monitoring, tracing, and success metrics; assess adoption and time savings, and iterate based on actual usage data.
• Develop and enhance Tempo's AI Builder playbook, ensuring reusable patterns, templates, connectors, and standards for consistent, secure, and easy-to-maintain automations as the practice expands.
• Document workflows and empower business teams to adopt, trust, and (where applicable) self-serve the agents that you create.
• Keep abreast of the rapidly evolving agentic AI landscape (models, frameworks, the changing Vertex / Gemini Enterprise and Atlassian Rovo ecosystems) and provide practical recommendations to the business.
• Support the Tempo Way of Working by utilizing Tempo and Jira products to manage and instrument the AI workflows you develop.
• 4+ years of experience in software, AI/ML, data, or automation engineering within technology or SaaS settings, including transitioning solutions from prototype to production.
• 1+ year of practical experience in building with LLMs and agentic AI – multi-step agents capable of using tools, retaining memory, and executing tangible actions (beyond chat or content generation).
• Familiarity with the Vertex AI / Gemini Enterprise Agent Builder platform (or a similar enterprise agent platform) for designing and deploying agents.
• Proven fluency with the tools that this role needs to integrate: Gemini, Claude, Slack/Slackbot, and Atlassian Rovo – with a history of successfully integrating multiple models and tools into a cohesive workflow.
• Proficient in prompt engineering, tool/function calling, and API integration; comfortable working with Python (or similar) and connecting systems that do not natively communicate.
• Experience in implementing RAG, retrieval, and grounding against enterprise knowledge sources.
• Practical knowledge of AI safety and evaluation techniques – including guardrails, human approvals, logging, testing, and methods like LLM-as-a-judge for assessing agent quality and task completion.
• Strong systems thinking abilities – you naturally identify dependencies, edge cases, failure modes, and second-order effects in a workflow.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills; capable of engaging with finance, procurement, or PMO leaders to understand their processes and translate them into functional automations.
• A strong inclination towards delivering results – you build, measure, and refine rather than over-planning, all while respecting security, identity, and data governance constraints.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey AI capabilities and limitations to non-technical audiences and senior leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in fast-paced environments where ambiguity and change are prevalent. Familiarity with the Atlassian ecosystem and/or developing automations for finance or operations teams is a significant advantage.
• Must be located in North America and able to work core hours in the Eastern (EST) time zone.
• Remote-first work environment.
• Unlimited vacation in most of our locations!
• Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, and savings plan.
• Perks such as training reimbursement, WFH reimbursement, and more.
• Diverse and dynamic teams with challenging and exciting work.
• An opportunity to make a significant impact on our business.
• A wide range of social activities (both in-person and virtual).
• Optional in-person meet-ups and the chance to travel to our international offices.
• Employee referral program.
• And much more!
