AI Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop and maintain backend systems that support AI-driven insurance processes in a production environment.

• Create and implement AI orchestration layers that integrate models, APIs, workflows, and business logic.

• Construct inference pipelines for LLM-based and AI-enhanced automation systems.

• Enhance latency, throughput, and cost efficiency across AI services (including caching, batching, streaming, and routing).

• Establish stable service boundaries among backend systems, ML components, and product APIs.

• Execute observability measures: logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and incident response workflows.

• Troubleshoot production challenges within distributed AI systems and identify root causes.

• Work closely with frontend, product, operations, and ML teams to deliver end-to-end features.

• Persistently enhance system reliability, scalability, and performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant backend engineering experience in production environments.

• Proven experience in building or managing high-throughput, low-latency services.

• Knowledge of AI Systems (including LLMs, Embeddings, or AI Workflows).

• Experience with distributed systems and production-level debugging.

• Strong grasp of APIs, data flows, and system design principles.

• Familiarity with observability tools (such as logging, monitoring, and tracing).

• A strong sense of ownership and a proactive approach to delivering results.

• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, globally distributed teams.
