AI Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Design and construct the backend infrastructure that supports the Traia.io AI Agent runtime.

• Create and sustain multi-agent orchestration systems as well as autonomous workflows.

• Develop infrastructure for agent runtimes, tool execution, memory systems, and task coordination.

• Integrate MCP servers, tools, skills, and external execution environments.

• Create secure deployment architectures for AI agents, including sandboxing and containerized runtimes.

• Develop scalable APIs, queues, event-driven systems, and real-time communication layers.

• Work in collaboration with AI engineers and infrastructure teams to define the future of autonomous systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive backend engineering experience with Python.

• Proven experience in building AI agents, autonomous workflows, orchestration systems, or multi-agent architectures.

• Familiarity with agent runtimes like OpenClaw, Hermes, or comparable frameworks is highly advantageous.

• In-depth knowledge of distributed systems, Docker, Kubernetes, and secure deployment architectures.

• Experience with MCP servers, tool calling systems, RAG pipelines, or AI-enhanced execution frameworks.

• Strong grasp of security, isolation, scalability, and performance trade-offs in autonomous systems.

• Background in designing backend systems for task execution, workflow orchestration, or event-driven architectures.
