This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee and monitor state legislative and regulatory activities within designated policy areas, identifying and escalating pertinent developments to senior colleagues in Government Relations.

• Assist assigned business units by creating and maintaining policy scorecards while tracking progress against key business and Government Relations goals.

• Analyze introduced legislation and regulatory proposals, summarizing essential provisions, current status, and potential business impacts.

• Generate and maintain regular updates such as legislative trackers, policy digests, alerts, and concise summaries to aid internal planning and responsiveness.

• Facilitate the preparation of internal briefings by organizing research, synthesizing inputs, and crafting clear written materials for the USGR team.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to confirm business context, collect relevant data, and ensure policy materials accurately reflect operational considerations.

• Provide timely and precise support to state Government Relations leads by addressing requests for background research, bill comparisons, and impact analysis (including financial, operational, compliance, and customer factors).

• Draft and assist in the creation of policy-oriented materials such as:

  • • One-pagers
  • • Talking points
  • • Issue summaries
  • • Q&A documents
  • • Comment letters
  • • Testimony support materials
  • • Background memos

• Prepare for meetings with policymakers and external stakeholders by compiling briefing packs, setting agendas, and taking detailed notes.

• Monitor important legislative deadlines, hearings, and engagement milestones, maintaining well-organized records and documentation.

• Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of internal tracking and documentation processes, including template creation, version control, and document management.

• Utilize legislative tracking and monitoring tools to ensure consistent, high-quality policy reporting and analysis.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, Economics, Education Policy, or a related discipline.

• 2–5 years of experience in government relations, public policy, legislative affairs, or policy analysis (or in closely related settings).

• Practical experience with legislative tracking, bill analysis, and policy research within a government relations or public affairs context.

• Excellent writing and editing abilities, capable of producing clear, concise, and well-organized policy materials for internal stakeholders.

• Solid understanding of state legislative processes and the factors that shape and influence policy decisions.

• Ability to juggle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail.

• Strong collaboration skills, able to work effectively with internal stakeholders and adapt to feedback and changing priorities.

• Familiarity with education policy or another regulated industry is a plus.

• Experience drafting or assisting in the development of policy or regulatory content, such as summaries, comparison tables, or recommended amendments.

• Knowledge of policy areas including education funding, assessments, procurement, accountability, data privacy, accessibility, or emerging technology policy is beneficial.

• Proficiency in using legislative tracking or monitoring tools such as FiscalNote, Quorum, State Net, or similar platforms.
